Adipex (phentermine) can be prescribed for obese patients who did not lose significant amount of weight after dieting and exercising. This medicine, although highly-efficient, must be combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise. You can discuss it with your doctor or dietician before starting to take Adipex. Sometimes the following mild side effects may be experienced: unpleasant taste in your mouth, dry mouth, constipation or diarrhea and vomiting. More serious side effects include dizziness, chest pain, increased blood pressure, insomnia, tremors, restlessness, shortness of breath and heart palpitations. Take the tablet whole – you do not need to crush or chew it, as the medicine is supposed to be released inside your body, in the stomach. Your health care provider needs to know about any other drugs you are currently taking, such as high blood pressure medications, antidepressants (fluoxetine, paroxetine, citalopram, escitalopram, sertraline and others), diabetes medications (insulin or any other ones). Some of these drugs cause interactions and should not be used along with Adipex – but your doctor is supposed to make the final decision.
